About SoC Document Repository (Docs)

This is the NUS School of Computing Document Repository website, also referred to simply as Docs.

Docs is a centralized online system for information authoring, dissemination and archival (i.e. a Content Management System). Docs is designed to modernize the documentation platforms used in SoC, facilitate the creation and maintenance of up-to-date documentation, and encourage community participation and contribution.

At this time, Docs serves the following information:

  • Computing Facilities documentation (previously https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/cf/)
  • Building Facilities documentation
  • Network Team internal documentation (for Network Team only)
  • IT Service Management documentation
  • Unix Operations internal documentation (for Unix Team only)
  • SoC Wiki
  • See 'List All Books' for many more...

The goals for Docs are:

  • Make documentation easy and fun, so that people will embrace active documentation.
  • Make sure that the technology helps create great documentation, without getting into the way.
  • Make it easy for everyone to share and contribute, so that information and knowledge becomes easily accessible and available to everybody.

Docs is built using the Drupal content management system and offers the following benefits:

  • No need to learn any kind of markup: No HTML, no Wiki codes.
  • Simple straight-forward What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) edting.
  • Easy to incorporate images, media and other attachments.
  • Flexible access controls to accommodate different content access and security requirements.
  • Integrated content searching that is user and content permissions aware.

If you like to use Docs, please contact us for more information.
